Who was...?
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was born on 29 June 1900, in Lyon, France. He was a writer, adventurer, and pilot, flying mail planes across Europe, Africa, and South America—often under life-threatening conditions. These experiences deeply shaped his thinking: themes of solitude, responsibility, camaraderie, and human fragility run throughout his work. In 1944, he died at the age of 44 during a reconnaissance flight over Corsica under unexplained circumstances.
With The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry created one of the most widely read books in the world. The poetic story of friendship, responsibility, and the essential things in life has resonated with generations of readers of all ages ever since.
